Board of Trustees

Monday January 8, 2024 6:00pm

 

Call to Order: Loretta Sutherland called the meeting to order at 6:01.  Board members in attendance were Ruth Gerbig, Kathy Bray, Barb Hybarger, Floyd Barker and Alicia Hollingsworth.  Board member Laura Glunt was absent. Kim Riley, Director and Harry Mohler, Architect were also present.

 

Call for Quorum: Quorum was met.  

 

Unfinished Business

  1. Land – Waiting on the town to hire a Town Planner to review documents before Forestar will close.
  2. Bond issue – Harry presented a projected updated project cost list and more discussion was held as to what we are wanting.
  3. c. Total eclipse – Tabled until we see a further need to revisit.

 

Reading and Approval of Minutes – Minutes stand approved as read.

 

Reading and Approval of Financial Report – Receipts – $88,133.27

Vouchers – $36,613.29

 

Resolutions: 1) Ruth made a motion and Kathy 2nd to move $7818.46 from 2023 Operating to 2023 Rainy Day Fund. Motion passed.

2) Ruth made a motion and Floyd 2nd to move $911.65 from 2023 personal services to 2023 capital.  Motion passed.

3) Ruth made a motion and Barb 2nd to move $22,650.22 from 2023 other services to 2023 capital.  Motion passed.

 

Approval of Bills: Ruth moved to approve the bills, Alicia seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

Report of the Director

  1. Programming updates – Programing report will be attached. Silent Auction made a profit of $925. Winter concert series sponsored by The Farmers Bank will start on January 20th at 6pm.  Tickets are $5 for each concert. Board has asked that free tickets not be given as this is a fundraiser.
  2. Attended meetings – Kim attended 2 town council meetings, 1 Hamitlon/Tipton County Directors meeting, 1 reorganizational meeting and attended 3 hours continuing ed webinars.
  3. Acquisitions: 2792 items added to our collection in 2023. 28197 physical items circulated in 2023 along with 13047 electronic items.  We had 18938 websites visits in 2023.
  4. Other – 1) Kim and Cindy will be attending a meeting for the Imagination Library on Feb. 14th. She will have more information to share at the March board meeting. 2) Kim would like to hire Alexis Muller as our new page starting at $8.50/hr.  Ruth made a motion to hire Alexis and Alicia 2nd.  Motion passed.

 

Communications – Received and read a thank you card from Brenda Garrod for the staff bonuses that were received in December.  Kim expressed thanks from all of the staff.

New Business –

  1. Election of Officers for 2024. Barb made a motion to accept the following slate of officers.
    Kathy 2nd.  Motion passed.

  1. Selection of newspaper for 2024 – Ruth made a motion to accept the Hamilton County
    Reporter as our newspaper for advertisements for 2024.  Barb 2nd. Motion passed.
