Regular Monthly Meeting Monday, June 8, 2026

 

Call to Order

Board President Loretta Sutherland called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Board members Floyd Barker, Laura Glunt, Ruth Gerbig, and Alicia Burnell were all present. Library Director, Kim Riley, was also present. Barbara Hybarger and Kathy Bray were absent.

 

Call for Quorum

Quorum was met.

 

Unfinished Business

  1. Building Project Update
    1. Building permits were issued.
    2. Fencing went up Monday, June 8th.
    3. Demolition of the non-fiction section will start the morning of Tuesday, June 9th.

 

Reading and Approval of Minutes

Minutes stand approved as read.

 

Reading and Approval of Financial Report  

Operating:                       R: $216,843.57   V: $31.284.04

Construction:                 R: $7,115.14       V: $25,559.66

Total:                               R: $223,958.71   V: $56,843.70

 

Approval of Bills    

A motion was made by Alicia Burnell and seconded by Ruth Gerbig. Motion passed.

 

Report of the Director
a. Programming updates – see updates. Summer reading has started and will go until July 11.

  1. b. Attended meetings – Town Council (2); LEU webinars (19 hours); Hamilton County Directors

meeting (1); meeting with Baker Tilly (1);

  1. c. Acquisitions: 130 items added; 2655 physical items circulated & 1346 electronic
    21 new cards issued.
  2. Other – A motion was made by Ruth Gerbig for Dorothy to continue to earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based

on the hours she worked and seconded by Laura Glunt. Motion passed.

– A motion was made by Ruth Gerbig and seconded by Floyd Barker to approve the amended

Monetary Gift Policy. Motion passed.

 

Communications:
None.


New Business:

  1. Director evaluation – Return no later than June 30th. An executive board meeting will be scheduled for Monday, July 13th, at 5:30 PM.
  2. Library Foundation – A motion was made by Ruth Gerbig and seconded by Floyd Barker to initiate the formation of the Library Foundation for Sheridan, Indiana. Motion passed.
