Board of Trustees

Regular Monthly Meeting Monday January 9, 2023 6pm

 

 

Call to Order: Ruth Gerbig, Vice President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

Board members in attendance were Alicia Hollingsworth, Kathy Bray, Floyd Barker, Ruth Gerbig, DeeDee Feeney and Laura Glunt.  Library Director Kim Riley and Architect Harry Mohler were also present.  Board President, Loretta Sutherland was absent.

 

Call for Quorum:  Quorum was met.

 

Reading and Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved as read.

 

Reading and Approval of Financial Report: Receipts $77,530; Vouchers: $30,8905.10.

Kathy made motion to approve the financial report and Floyd seconded motion. Motion passed.

 

Motion was made by Ruth to move $36,361 to the rainy-day fund Kathy seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

Ruth made a Motion to increase $554.43 in other services and other charges and to reduce our supplies by $554.43. Floyd seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

Approval of Bills – Bills were approved

 

Report of the Director

  1. Programming updates – Updates will be attached to these minutes
  2. Other –

* Rob Harrell, author of “Wink”, will come in the fall as a result of an Indiana Authors Speaker grant we received.
* Kim asked for the library to be closed on April 11th to be trained by the state on the virtual reality program and to have staff training for the rest of the day.  Motion was made by Kathy for this to happen and 2nd by DeeDee. Motion was passed.
* Kim would like to do a GAP program here with the staff and Sheridan Youth Assistance Program.  She would like to do this April 11th from 4-6.  This will be mandatory for staff.

Communications – None

 

 

Unfinished Business

  1. Land – Harry updated us on where we are with the land. We are going to proceed as if we are going to build over our drainage ditch. If we are ever going to get the land, we will use it for other purposes to begin with.
  2. Bond issue – no discussion
  3. Long range plan- Looked over the Long-Range Plan. Kim will submit it to the state.

 

 

 

New Business

  1. Election of Officers: Slate:   President – Loretta Sutherland

                                                                  Vice President – Ruth Gerbig

                                                                  Secretary – DeeDee Feeney

                                                                  Treasurer – Laura Glunt

Floyd moved that we accept the officers as slated.  Kathy 2nd the motion and the motion passed.

 

  1. Selection of newspapers for 2023 – Hamilton North Reporter

Motion was made by DeeDee and 2nd by Laura.  Motion passed.
